Training
On-Site Spanish-speaking Trainer
We can present your training materials in Spanish to those who need it. This is particularly helpful when you want the same message consistently delivered (think of a sexual harassment training/refresher course; open-enrollment explanation on how the medical plan actually works, an explanation of your 401 (k) / retirement plan, etc., etc., where consistency in the delivery of the message is of crucial importance).
Proactive Employee Relations / Union Avoidance
The time to prevent unionization is before the union files a petition for an election. We offer an interactive program which includes the need for a basic policy regarding unions, an HR Practices Checklist (covering different areas of potential trouble), The Reasons for Remaining Non-union, Factors which Cause Employees to Seek Union Representation, Recognizing the Early Signs of Union Activity, Overview a Union Campaign, and a Practice Session, during which participants play a board game which covers the different stages of a union organizational campaign and educates them in some of the current rules of the National Labor Relations Board. Also shown/shared are an Authorization Card, a Demand Letter, a Notice to Employees that a Petition for Election has been filed, an Official Notice of Election, and a sample Ballot.
Understanding your Latino Employees
If an employer’s workforce reflects the composition of the population at large, most employers probably have a significant number of individuals on their payroll whose primary language is NOT English.
This one-hour presentation covers items such as where they come from; where in the 50 states they can be found and in what numbers; One culture or Many?; The differences in dealing with Latinos; Gestures and mannerisms; Latino Values and Practices vs. Anglo Values and Practices; Building bridges between the two (apparently opposing) cultures; and How to communicate with people for whom English is a second language.
(This program is revised regularly to reflect the most recent data available from the US Census Bureau).
